About us

Homecare Retreat Center (Karen)

Homecare Retreat Center is a serene prayer centre that was established in line with the vision of the Homecare Spiritual Fellowship. It is located in the quiet suburb of Karen, 25Kms south of Nairobi.

The Prayer centre is ideal for individuals seeking to be alone with God, as well as groups seeking a quiet place to hold seminars. The facility comprises grassy spacious gardens ideal for relaxation and reflection; two conference halls; clean spacious bedrooms; cosy dining facilities. We serve very healthy Kenyan and international cruisine — most of the veggies are grown in our shamba.

Hospitality - the offer of a warm-hearted, simple welcome to all

Homecare Retreat Center is a place of hospitality, which is offered to all who wish to visit. Such hospitality draws on the deep wells of Christian spirituality as well as the gifts of the host team.

Contemplation – the practice of silence, stillness, meditation and prayer

We are rooted in the Christian contemplative tradition as expressed in the Scriptures. We provide a context for learning about these sources and resources, and enjoying silence, attentiveness and contemplative prayer.

Nature Connection – the opportunity to deepen our relationship with the natural world

Time at Homecare can be helpful for our health and wellbeing, as well as our spiritual journey. Our care for the environment creates balance for daily life and inspiration for compassionate activism. Time at Homecare enhances our relationship with the earth and encourages care for creation.

Creativity – the provision of quiet outdoor space to inspire

Homecare Retreat Center is often a space designed with great creativity. We host creative people and groups. And time spent at Homecare allows moments of inspiration and creativity to come to the surface.
