God does not call the qualified, but qualifies the called.
Most are the times we think that we are not qualified to serve God. Whenever we think or hear of ministry, we automatically think that that belongs to other Christians, perhaps those who look a particular way, or talk in a particular way, or even perhaps those who’ve gone to Bible school. Well, think again.
Most of the Bible prophets and Apostles were caught off guard when God called upon them to serve Him. When David was anointed to be king, he was a mere shepherd, the youngest in his family, and had it been up to man to make a choice, you can be sure that David would have been the last choice.(1 Samuel 16:11-12)
My favorite is probably Gideon. He must have wondered that of all the people in his nation, God saw him? (Judges 6:15) Surely this could not be God, and if it was, He must have been mistaken. (Judges 6:17)
The calling of Moses in Exodus is one good example of God qualifying the called, and not calling the qualified. Moses was obviously not the ‘best’ choice, I mean; even he recognized that his own brother Aaron was better off (Exodus 3:11, 4:10-14). But God apparently doesn’t look at what moan looks at.
When the prophet Jeremiah was called, he was surprised, he told God that he was only a child and God had to do some convincing (Jeremiah 1:4-8). And what about Jonah? He practically ran away from God.(Jonah 1:1-3)
God will not fail to use you or even bless you based on your background, family, age, education, gender, race, looks or anything else that man is so keen on.
